Hello Anglers. I hope this finds everyone well. If you are a local I also hope that you are surviving the rain that this tropical storm has blessed us with.

There is a lot going on in the fishing game in Ruskin right now. I am happy to announce that I have teamed up with the Saxon’s and Pirates Pointe Resort. Tom and Tammy Saxon are the new owners at Pirates Pointe and I look forward to building a relationship with such a fine couple. We have several things that we will be working on together to make your resort stay and/or fishing experience better. If you are not familiar with the resort, look them up at or call them at (813)641-2052. You will not be disappointed, I promise.img_1348

Lets talk fishing. The pics I have added this month are not of the biggest fish we caught for the month but they were just as important than the biggest fish. I attached these because of the story. My long time client Cameron Blackstone decided to bring his kids along for his latest trip. It was the first time that I have had Cameron’s kids aboard. The reason I am touching back on this trip is not about the fantastic day we had, to be truthful it was a challenge of a bite that day,  but because of the way Cameron approached the trip with his crew. Those of you that have brought your kids out with me know that I truly love having kids on the boat and have told many of my guests that with kids its all about patience and understanding.

img_1349Cameron nailed it. We fished for two and a half hours, went to the restaurant and ate lunch and then took the kids to the beach for a 30 minute swim before slowly heading back to the dock. Happy kids will want to experience that again. Great job Cameron, your little troopers will remember that day forever. I would like to say thank you to all of you that fished with me in August, you are not taken for granted. September marks the opening of snook season and typically the beginning of some more enjoyable days on the pond. The redfish bite has picked up and I truly expect everything else to follow as our weather pendulum starts to swing in the cooler direction. Next month I will give a little more detailed forecast as the conditions will be changing more than at the present time. Until next time, good luck and be safe on the water. REMEMBER: don’t let your kid be the one that got away, take them fishing.

Thanks again.
